How we make money

The short version: Latch & Hub is reader-supported through affiliate links. When you buy through one, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you.

Amazon Associates statement. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How our links work

Most product links on this site point to Amazon and carry our Associates tag. If you click one and buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without our link — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket.

Our buy links route through a redirect on our own domain (you'll see /go/… in the link) so we can keep them tidy and, in future, point a product at a better retailer if one becomes available. The destination is always the real product listing.

Prices and availability

Prices and stock are pulled live from Amazon's API and stamped with the date we checked them. They change constantly. If our data goes stale (older than 48 hours), we hide the number rather than show you a wrong one, and the button falls back to "Check price on Amazon." Amazon's price at checkout is always the one that counts.

How this affects our recommendations

It doesn't. Commission never moves a ranking. We regularly recommend the cheaper or subscription-free option as the better buy even though it earns us less, because a recommendation you can't trust is worthless to both of us. The full rules are in our editorial policy, and how we pick is on the methodology page.

Other retailers

Amazon is our default and, at launch, our only commissioned retailer. If we ever mention a brand we don't have an affiliate relationship with (for example, a security company sold only through its own site), that link earns us nothing and we'll say so.
